The actors trying to promote the so called organic scampi or tiger prawns
often pretend that there is no serious criticism against what they are doing.
We do not want to show the same lack of seriousness. Therefore, we think
it is good that you contact those that we criticise to hear what they have
to say. You could for example contact the COOP stores in your country, if
there are any. The Swedish COOP can be contacted at info@coop.se.
However, we should warn you that they often have problems in answering questions
concerning this issue and can often answer falsely!
Examples of such questions are:
- How old are the shrimp ponds? COOP has said that no pond is younger than
45 years even. The truth is that many are much younger and this has been
acknowledged by the partner of COOP in Indonesia.
- Are the ponds surrounded by mangrove forest? They are not but COOP has
claimed they are in their advertisements!
